1. The capillary gap of the base is sealed by applying asphalt film, preventing water from penetrating downwards and creating a waterproof barrier. Simultaneously, it inhibits the upward penetration of water vapor, reducing bubble defects in the waterproof coil. This process enhances adhesion between the waterproof coil and the base, acting as "asphalt nails" that firmly bond them together. Additionally, it improves compatibility between the base and the waterproof layer by addressing their differing compositions (calcium silicate in cement mortar and asphalt ester in asphalt). Coating with asphalt primer facilitates better bonding, minimizing drumming and delamination of the waterproof sheet. Furthermore, during roofing screed layer construction under rainy or humid conditions or to meet tight deadlines when cement mortar has partially set but can still be worked on, immediate application of slow-volatile cold base oil seals off moisture within the base for self-maintenance purposes before laying down the waterproof coil.
